Discover Florida's Flats: Early Morning Magic on St. Pete's Waters
Hey there! I just wrapped up a fantastic Mate's Fee Only Card Shared trip with SRS Adventures out of St. Petersburg. May is a great time for flats fishing in Florida, with the waters warming up and the fish getting more active. We met up at 1:00 am, which is pretty early, but it's worth it to beat the heat and catch the fish when they're most hungry.
The weather was partly cloudy throughout the day, which actually worked in our favor. It kept things cool and comfortable out on the water. Speaking of water, the conditions were great - clear and calm, perfect for spotting fish on the flats. We tried out a variety of techniques, working different spots and depths to find where the fish were hiding.
Though we didn't manage to land any big prize, but we still had a great time out on the water, enjoying the scenery and good company. Thenna was a trooper, staying positive and keeping at it all day. That's what I love about these trips - even when the fish aren't biting, you're still out there on the water, soaking up the Florida sun and learning new tricks.
