Snapper Showdown: Sunrise Thrills on St. Pete's May Flats

I had a great time out on the flats with t for our Mate's Fee Only Card Shared trip with SRS Adventures. May is a fantastic month for fishing in St. Petersburg, with the water warming up and fish getting more active. We met up at 1:00 am, which gave us plenty of time to get out to some prime spots before sunrise. The weather was partly cloudy, with a chance of strong storms later, but that didn't dampen our spirits one bit.

Once we got out on the water, conditions were great. We tried a variety of techniques to see what would work best. It didn't take long before we hooked into some nice Red Snapper. These fish put up a good fight, pulling hard and trying to dive back down to the bottom. But t did a great job working the rod and reel, and we managed to land a couple of beauties.

Throughout the day, we moved around to different spots, always keeping an eye on those clouds. The fishing stayed pretty steady, and we had a bunch of good hits. Even when the fish weren't biting, just being out on the flats was awesome. St. Petersburg has some of the best flats fishing around, and days like this really show why.
