Hook a Snapper on St. Pete's Flats: Early Birds Get the Fish!
Hey there! Just got back from an awesome Mate's Fee Only Card Shared trip with SRS Adventures in St. Petersburg, Florida. May's a great time for flats fishing here - the weather's warming up and the fish are getting active. We met up at 1:00 am, which is early, but it's worth it to beat the heat and catch the fish when they're biting.
The weather was a bit iffy at first, but it cleared up nicely in the afternoon. We had to keep an eye out for those strong storms they were talking about, but luckily they stayed away. The water was great, which always makes for good fishing. We tried out a variety of techniques on the flats, keeping things interesting and giving us the best shot at hooking some fish.
Thenna was out with us today, and we had a blast. The highlight was definitely when we landed a nice Red Snapper. Those guys put up a good fight, especially in the shallow water of the flats. It's always a treat to catch them here. Even when we weren't catching, it was just nice being out on the water, watching for fish and enjoying the day.
