Red Hot Snapper: Dawn Adventure on St. Pete's Stunning Flats

I had a great time out on the water with Thenna for our Mate's Fee Only Card Shared trip with SRS Adventures. We set out from St. Petersburg at 1:00 am, which is pretty early, but it's worth it to beat the heat in May. This time of year in Florida can be tricky with the weather, but we lucked out with just partly cloudy skies and no storms during our trip.

We were targeting the flats, and the water conditions were great for it. I mixed up our techniques to see what would work best. The Red Snapper were biting, which was awesome. These fish can put up a good fight, especially in the shallow water of the flats. Thenna did a great job reeling them in. We had to work for our catches, but that's what makes it fun, right?

Even though we were focused on fishing, I always enjoy showing folks around the St. Pete area. The flats here are something special - you get these wide-open spaces with shallow water that just seem to go on forever. It's a different kind of fishing than what a lot of people are used to, but once you get into it, it's hard to beat. We had to stay on our toes and keep moving to find the fish, but that's all part of the adventure.
